Bambu Lab expanded its affordable A series on June 1, 2026 with the Bambu Lab A2L, a large-format printer starting at $469 in the United States and €379 in Europe. Its 330 x 320 x 325 mm build volume is around 105% larger than that of a typical 256 mm-class machine. The appeal is immediate: print a large cosplay prop or a full batch of parts without cutting the model into sections, while keeping the price below $500.
The A2L is not positioned as a replacement for the A1. It is a new, larger member of the family, bringing some technology from Bambu Lab’s more expensive machines to an open-frame bedslinger. Independent reviews are now available, and they broadly confirm strong large-print reliability while also highlighting the limits that come with the open design.

A genuinely useful increase in build volume
The 330 x 320 x 325 mm build area is the A2L’s central feature. It provides enough room for a large helmet section, household organizer or several production parts on one plate. At 544 x 529 x 505 mm and 12.8 kg, however, this is not a compact desktop printer. The moving bed also needs free space behind and in front of the chassis, so prospective owners should measure the complete operating footprint rather than the frame alone.
The open structure keeps the price and weight down, but it also defines the material range. PLA, PETG, TPU and PVA are natural choices. Bambu Lab also lists some carbon-fibre variants when used with the appropriate hardened nozzle, but high-temperature engineering materials are not the A2L’s main purpose because the build chamber is not enclosed.

Tom’s Hardware confirmed that the adaptive compensation and granular dampers are part of the production machine rather than presentation concepts. TechRadar’s extended testing also found the A2L reliable on large prints and praised the combination of speed, scale and price.

Price and options
The standalone A2L launched at $469 in the United States and €379 in Europe. The A2L Combo, supplied with an AMS Lite for multicolor printing, is $569 or €489. That is aggressive pricing for this build volume, although multicolor operation also adds the ongoing cost of extra filament and purge waste.
The cutting kit is sold separately and includes the blade and pen workflow accessories. It can cut materials such as sticker sheets, paper, selected fabrics and thin leather, or use a pen for plotting. TechRadar found the feature functional, although a purpose-built cutter that feeds material continuously may be more convenient for frequent 2D work. The open A2L does not accept a laser module, which is the sensible safety decision for this frame design.
Software, multicolor and modular tools
The A2L remains inside the familiar Bambu ecosystem: Bambu Studio for slicing, MakerWorld for downloadable models and Bambu Handy for remote control. The prepared profiles and automatic calibration are a major part of the appeal, particularly when a large print may run for many hours and consume a substantial amount of material.
Multicolor jobs work with AMS and AMS Lite units. Bambu Lab advertises a maximum of 19 colors when several systems are connected, but that headline configuration is far more expensive and space-hungry than the basic printer. Most owners will find the four-color Combo more practical. A planned Print-then-Cut workflow is intended to use camera-assisted alignment for 2D projects, which could make the expansion mount more than a novelty.





Is the Bambu Lab A2L worth considering?
The A2L fills an obvious gap in Bambu Lab’s range. It offers a genuinely large build volume, effective automatic calibration and strong real-world reliability at a price that previously required more compromises. TechRadar recommended it for big, dependable prints and good value, while Tom’s Hardware confirmed the core vibration-control technology behind the specification sheet.
The trade-offs are clear. It is physically large and heavy, the open frame limits engineering materials, and the software and accessory experience remains closely tied to Bambu Lab’s ecosystem. The cutting tools are useful extras rather than replacements for every dedicated craft machine. For PLA and PETG users who mainly want to print larger parts without splitting them, however, the A2L is one of the strongest large-format propositions below $500.
