Mecpow presents the X1, a compact galvo engraver combining a 10 W blue laser and a 2 W infrared laser. The machine claims up to 5,000 mm/s, a 105 x 105 mm work area and a protective cover. This combination targets both cutting organic materials and marking certain metals and plastics. With a claimed retail price of $1,299, the X1 is nevertheless positioned well above the brand’s gantry engravers.
Two complementary wavelengths
The 445 nm blue module suits wood, leather, cardboard and dark acrylic. Mecpow claims up to 8 mm wood and 5 mm black acrylic, manufacturer values heavily dependent on species, colour and number of passes.
The 1,064 nm infrared module delivers 2 W. It is intended for marking metals, jewellery and compatible plastics. It does not turn the X1 into an industrial fibre laser capable of rapid deep engraving in every bare metal.
A fast galvo with a small work area
5,000 mm/s speed: mirrors move the beam without moving a heavy head across a gantry. This architecture enables very fast engraving on small objects. The maximum value will not be relevant for cutting, which needs more energy.
105 x 105 mm area: it suits cards, labels, jewellery and logos. The optional G1 rail extends length to 370 mm, while the G5 roller enables cylindrical-object personalisation.
Dual focusing: users can enter material thickness for motorised adjustment or manually align two light points. Repeatability should be checked on irregular objects.
Claimed accuracy: Mecpow mentions 0.0001 mm positioning accuracy. This ambitious figure likely describes the control system, not the actual size of an engraved detail. Claimed optical spots are 0.03 x 0.03 mm in infrared and 0.06 x 0.08 mm in blue.

Price and software
The official X1 product page lists a retail price of $1,299, with possible promotions. The 18 August 2025 announcement details the two sources and accessories. Mecpow claims LightBurn compatibility while specifying that some functions may require its own software. This matters for workflow longevity and offline operation.
Cover, fumes and mobile use
The cover limits direct access to the beam and the fan guides fumes to a duct. This does not make the device emission-free. The INRS recalls the eye, skin and fire hazards associated with powerful lasers. Extraction must lead outdoors and the machine must remain supervised.
At 6.5 kg with a handle, the X1 is transportable, but a mobile demonstration still requires a public-exclusion zone and suitable extraction. PVC and any unknown material must be avoided.
In conclusion, is the X1 different enough?
The X1 combines real material versatility and galvo speed in a compact enclosure. It may interest jewellery creators, customisation shops and small object batches. Its reduced work area, high price and partial dependence on Mecpow software are the main trade-offs. Without independent testing, speed and accuracy figures remain promises.
