xTool continues to expand beyond lasers with the Apparel Printer, a DTF, direct-to-film, textile printer aimed at garment customisation. I have not tested it; this is an overview based on what xTool highlights, without claiming to have handled it. Let’s see what this all-in-one approach promises.

A complete DTF line in a single machine
First, unlike a conventional DTF installation which combines a printer, powdering station and separate oven, the Apparel Printer integrates the whole process. The design is printed on film, which is then cut into individual pieces and automatically transported to an integrated oven by a precise rail system. At this level, it clearly targets the serious maker or a small customisation business: the calculation rests on the cost per print, $0.50 to $2.50 depending on size, and time saved compared with a DTF line split across several machines. Prices change with offers, so it is worth comparing before buying.
Safety and proper use
DTF printing involves inks, heat-activated powder and a hot curing phase, which calls for a few honest precautions. Fine powder and fumes released during curing justify working in a well-ventilated space, ideally with extraction, and following consumable safety data sheets. The heat press used for final transfer reaches high temperatures, so burns are a risk. This type of machine is intended for domestic or professional use without particular authorisation in France, but caution remains necessary, especially during intensive use where ventilation becomes central. For a maker or small business wanting to produce on demand, the all-in-one approach is genuinely clever.
It still needs to prove actual ease of use, the real quality and durability of transfers through washing, and the effective long-term cost of consumables, all things a specification sheet alone cannot settle. But the idea is attractive and true to what xTool does well: simplify complex processes. I hope to have the opportunity to test it one day.
